ABOUT
Cathy Ye is a Chinese-Canadian director of photography who portrays humanistic stories through an emotive, stylized lens. Her work investigates the human psychology, and aims to expand daily perspective through creative image-making. As a first-generation Chinese-Canadian immigrant, Cathy grew up between Vancouver and Beijing, and is a polyglot of 4.5 languages. Cathy believes that cinema is a powerful psychological medium capable of building empathy and influencing change, and is passionate about mentorship and community building within the film industry.
Cathy was selected for the ASC Vision Mentorship 2022-2023 program, launched by the American Society of Cinematographers, where she learned under mentor, Patti Lee, ASC.
Currently based out of London, Cathy works worldwide across the UK, Europe, and North America.
